Cognitive neuroscience and social neuroscience are interdisciplinary fields that use different neuroscience measures (EEG, fMRI, TMS etc) to explore how the brain enables the mind, and how other people influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. This course introduces basic neuroanatomy and discusses methods that are used to understand the brain bases of human cognition and human social behaviour.
We will cover the main theories of cognition and the neural mechanisms of several processes including attention, perception, language, emotions, and social cognition. Students will have the opportunity to continue with the advanced course if they are interested in a deep dive into how to analyse neuroscience data.
Combined with an interdisciplinary perspective and hands-on experience with data analysis, the module will enable students to pursue higher education and careers in the fields of social and cognitive neuroscience, psychology, computational neuroscience and beyond.

The course will be delivered hybrid with 22 hours of in-person lectures and 8 hours of online lectures. The in-person classes will also be made available online. Attendance in-person is recommended but not mandatory.
